A Poem

Alone

I came alone, as did you.

Born.

Living.

Will die.

Alone, as will you.

This is frightening to ponder.

But need not be so.

This aloneness, this structure.

For it is our shared state.

The great equalizer.

All are alone.

The rich die alone.

The poor die alone.

The righteous die alone.

The insincere die alone.

All the more reason to connect.

To get as close as possible to others.

To accept without judgments.

Remembering they walk their path alone.

As you walk yours, alone.
